As lead author, Rewild Ecological led the development of Distribution, Status, and Flora of Northern Atlantic Coastal Plain Heathland and Grassland, the first comprehensive, region-wide assessment of this globally imperiled ecosystem. The study mapped more than 12,000 hectares of remaining habitat from New York to Massachusetts, compiled vascular plant data from 64 sites, documented 627 plant species and 91 rare species, and demonstrated that these grasslands and heathlands are among the Northeast's most significant biodiversity hotspots. The research provides an important scientific foundation for habitat conservation, restoration, and management and will help guide future stewardship of these rare ecosystems.
